Social technology is making it easier and more important for businesses to engage with customers.  It’s not just about listening to what your customers are saying on Facebook, but opening a real dialogue, and taking feedback into account for product development and marketing.

A great piece from this article details how the team in charge of marketing a snack brand is working directly with teens, via social media, to develop the brand.  They expect their future marketing strategies to evolve as a result of this collaboration, which is a pretty cool idea.

We love the idea of keeping in touch with your customers’ tastes and opinions, and using real communication to market your brand and products.  Relying on print or television ads just doesn’t cut it these days.

Here’s another fun fact from the article: 84% of 25 to 34 year olds have clicked out of a website because of an “irrelevant or intrusive ad.”   (Ironically, we had to click a “Skip this ad” link to get to the article in the first place.)
