Event Recap – Modern Marketing Mashup Miami

What a great time we had at the Soho Beach House in Miami Beach!  Not only were the views of the ocean AND the city amazing but the crowd was great!  The evening started with 45 minutes of cocktails and networking, not to mention some delicious apps. Then the panel discussion began, moderated by our own Carly Schrager!  The panel included a diverse set of modern marketers who brought a wide variety of perspectives on the topics posed to them. Some of our favorite takeaways were:Miami MMM

  • Don’t forget about some of the most overlooked areas of marketing including sales-marketing alignment and analyzing your data!  Both VERY important topics to the DR team as we are constantly guiding clients through giving the proper attention to both important areas.
  • On the question of content quality versus quantity, quality was the clear winner among panelist responses; however, an interesting point was made that not all quality content is RELEVANT content. Pay attention to how your audience responds to your content and learn what is most relevant to them.  Spenser Coop, @KoopinKrackerz, gave a great example that the Jacksonville Jaguars audience actually responds best to stories related to the players’ lives off the field. That was not intuitive to the marketing team but very effective and a great learning from the analysis they’ve done on their content.
  • Don’t underestimate the value of a team player – someone that will chip in and do anything and everything they need to do to help you reach your goals. Value those people, take care of them and allow them to grow within your organization.
  • The Modern Marketer beverages were delicious!  Why aren’t they on the menu at our local bars?!

If you haven’t attended a Modern Marketing Mashup, check out the cities the tour is headed to next.  It’s always a great time getting to network with fellow OMC customers and be inspired with takeaways from the most modern of the modern marketing community.
